| Parteene, a small hamlet about 2 miles WNW. of Limerick, on the N. side of the River Shannon. In Donelly's Tour in Ireland (1681), the following allusion is made to this Decoy, which must have been a very early established one. "Parteene is a small town adjoining to the famous Salmon Weir belonging to the City of Limerick . . . . . . On the right hand of the bridge is a great Decoy for Ducks belonging to James Fitzgerald of the Middle Temple, Esquire. | |

| Mr. R. Evatt, of Mount Louise, in this county, informed the Author that some years ago he attached a small Decoy-pipe to the lake in his grounds, but that, through non-success, it was discontinued. | |
